Two hundred and sixty seven British soldiers died on this single day in 1944. 6028695 Private Leonard Daunter of the 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment was one of those casualties. He was 32 years old, the son of William Thomas Daunter and Emily Daunter of Taynton, Gloucestershire. He died as a prisoner of war of the Japanese and is buried in Chungkai War Cemetery in Thailand.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
