6023627 Private Leslie Harold Victor Carline of the 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment, died on the 23rd May 1941. Leslie, who was born in, and was living in, east London when he enlisted, has no known grave and is commemorated on the Athens Memorial.

228367 Capt Clive Moncrieff, 2nd Airborne Bn

228367 Captain Clive Moncrieff was attached to the 2nd Airborne Battalion when he died in Euroope on the 25th March 1944. He was 23 years old, the son of Alan and Lilian Moncrieff of Wadhurst in Sussex. He'd originally joined the Leicestershire Regiment, transferred to the Ox and Bucks and was then attache dto the 2nd Airborne. He died in the fighting in Germany and is buried in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery.

I was travelling yesterday and had no access to the internet, hence I was unable to update this blog for the 25th.

4856259 Corporal Jesse Caldwell of the 2nd Battalion, Leicestershire Regt, died on the 25th November 1941. He was the son of Jesse Reuben and Lucie Caldwell and he was from Leicester, although born in Bolton. He is buried in Tobruk War Cemetery.
