5112680 Private Victor Dunne of the 1/5th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, died on the 16th July 1943. He was 23 years old, the son of Mary Anne Dunne of Erdington, Birmingham. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Singapore Memorial.
Victor is pictured above in the middle row, fifth from right. This photo was sent to me by his great nephew, Martin Skellum. Also remembering, Allen Fredrick Whyley, Martin's father-in-law and another old Sherwood Forester who died recently. (Post updated 18th October 2012).
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

Victor Dunne was my great uncle.
I never met him as I was born in 1954 but I was given my middle name in respect of him.
He had a large family but my Mother is the only one now remaining who knew him.
My Mother and I speak often of Victor and there is only one photograph of him, he is in a group of his mates from the Sherwood Foresters.
I wish I could find out more about him and his time in captivity where unfortunately he died.
Can anyone advise where I can best post this picture in memory of Victor Dunne and his mates?
Did anyone know Victor Dunne?
On behalf of my Mother Bridget(Betty)Skellum and all of Victor's family who never forgot him.
Martin Victor Skellum.
Martin, I'll be happy to post the picture here on this post if you send me a jpeg to paulcanixon @ yahoo.co.uk. Remove the spaces in the email address when you send. Thanks for commenting.
