3959696 Pte John J Fenelon, 7th Bn, Hants Regt

3959696 Private John Jospeh Fenelon of the 7th Battalion, Hampshire Regiment, was one of nearly 400 men to die on this day in 1944. He was 20 years old, the son of Patrick and Ellen Fenelon, of Dovecot, Liverpool. John had originally joined the Welch Regiment and later transferred to the Hampshires. He is buried in Hottot-les-Bagues War Cemetery in France,

6857748 Rifleman Leslie Stanley Eaton of the 12th Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps, died on the 2nd August 1941 (according to the British Roll of Honour), 1944 according to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. He was the son of George and Kizzie Eaton of Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire. He is buried in Hottot-Les-Bagues War Cemetery in France.

277672 Capt Patrick Toolan MM, 1/7th Queen's Royal Regt

277672 Captain Patrick Toolan MM of the 1/7th Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey), died on the 17th June 1944. He was born in Belfast and was living there when he enlisted. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission states that he was serving with the Gordon Highlanders and was attached to the Queen's Royal Regiment. He was 26 years old when he died, and was the son of Bernard and Catherine Toolan of Belfast. He is buried in Hottot-Les-Bagues War Cemetery in France. The War Graves Photographic Project has a photo of his grave.
