As a lieutenant and acting major with the Kent Cyclist Battalion during the First World War, Victor Duncan John Saxon had been Mentioned in Dispatches in 1917. It's possible that he carved out a career for himself with the army after the First World War ended, but in any event he was certainly a major at the time of his death on the 24th March 1941.
Victor Saxon was born in Kent in 1887, his birth registered in the Sheppey district in the September quarter of that year. He was the son of John and Emily Saxon and the husband of Elizabeth Mabel Saxon (nee Rhodes). He had married Elizabeth in Canterbury in 1916.
Victor Saxon is buried in Ismailia War memorial Cemetery in Egypt.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
