2622248 L/Cpl Leslie Rakes, 5th Bn, Grenadier Guards

2622248 Lance-Corporal Leslie Francis William Rakes of the 5th Battalion, Grenadier Guards, died on the 3rd May 1943. He was born in Bath and was, according to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, the son of Albert and Alice Rakes, and the husband of Constance Rakes, of Dagenham, Essex. He died in the North African Campaign, aged 25, and is buried in the Oued Zarga War Cemetery in Tunisia.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
