4131223 Gnr Harold Gilligan, Royal Artillery

Twenty-two year-old 4131223 Gunner Harold Gilligan of the Royal Artillery, died on the 8th January 1943. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission tells us that he was 22 years old; the son of Thomas and Agnes Gilligan, of Manchester, and the young husband of Kathleen Gilligan, of Chorlton-upon-Medlock, Manchester. He was serving with 87 Battery, the 24th Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment, ast the time of his death.

Harold Gilligan is buried in Guahati War Cemetery in India, one of 498 identified casualties there.

At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.
