I was a day ahead of myself yesterday, consequently here's what I should have written:

3446249 Private George Kenneth Lord of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, died in the Fare East on the 28th June 1943. He was 27 years old, the son of James and Sarah Lord, and the husband of Elizabeth Ellen Lord, of Yeadon, Yorkshire. He was part of the 18th Divisional Ordnance Workshop and presumably died as a prisoner of war of the Japanese. He is buried in Kanchanaburi War Cemetery in Thailand.

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission, however, records that he served with the 12th (2nd Bn. The Queen's Westminsters) Battalion,King's Royal Rifle Corps and died on the 26th June 1944. He was 21 years old, the son of Alfred and Angelina Marchant of Brighton, Sussex and the husband of Constance Freda Marchant of Brighton. He is buried in St. Manvieu War Cemetery in Cheux, France.

Coincidentally, another R Marchant also died on the 26th June. R/92040 Flight Sergeant Robert Cresswell Marchant of the Royal Canadian Air Force died on the same day in 1942. He was 23 years old, the son of Herbert and Nellie Marchant of Shalalth, British Columbia, Canada. He is buried in Terschelling (West Terschelling)General Cemetery in Friesland, Holland.

He was 24 years old, the son of Albert Edward and Daisy Ethel Kohler, and the husband of Doris Hilda Kohler, of Bethnal Green, London. He is buried in La Delivrande War Cemetery in Douvres. The Commonwealth war Graves Commission writes:

"The burials in La Delivrande War Cemetery mainly date from 6 June and the landings on Sword beach, particularly Oboe and Peter sectors. Others were brought in later from the battlefields between the coast and Caen. There are now 942 Commonwealth servicemen of the Second World War buried or commemorated in this cemetery. 63 of the burials are unidentified but there are special memorials to a number of casualties known to be buried among them. The cemetery also contains 180 German graves."
