4696167 Gunner Peter Roche of 3 Maritime Regiment, Royal Artillery, died at sea on the 2nd March 1945. He was the son of Robert Henry and Annie Roche of Knaresborough in Yorkshire, and the husband of Edith Roche.
Peter Roche has no known grave and is commemorated on the Chatham Naval Memorial.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

Thank you for posting this information. I am Peters grandson and sadly as Grandma would not talk about the war and what happened we do not have a lot of information about our grandad. Just one slight correction to the information you have posted. Peter Roache was married to Edith (dec). They had one daughter Maureen, who married Robert Henry Lee. Who now live in Australia. They Have two sons Barry and Kevin. Kevin's eldest son is a member of the South Australian Legion Cadets and will be wearing his great grandfather's (Peter Roache) medals in this years ANZAC Day dawn service and march. He is the only person to ever wear them. We all know both his great grandparents (Peter and Edith) would be just as proud of him as we all are. RIP Grandad, Kevin.

As mentioned previously my eldest son proudly wore Grandads medals in the ANZAC Eve Youth vigil ceremony and the Dawn Service. He started at 5pm on the Saturday and finished at 12pm on the Sunday, with out sleep; he stood proud and held his head high the whole time. We all know Grandad would have been proud of him, as we all are.
